Minutes of the 310th Meeting – 19th May 2018

The Captain David McLaren, asked those present to be up standing for the Loyal Toast. Gentlemen archers, who had shot the bow with the Captain in the morning, were asked to remain standing whilst guests retired from the room.

The Captain then proposed the toasts to The Society and The Arrow, The Captain and Lieutenant Elect and absent friends.

The Lieutenant, Peter Rogers, read the minutes of the 309th meeting. These were accepted as a true record, with the Captain duly signing the Record Book.

Apologies for absence were received from M Leach, M Winsett and G Rhodes before the meeting. There were apologies called out for a 9 further Gentlemen not present.

The Clerk had received an email from a previous entrant pointing out he had not received the usual invite to this years Meeting. It was identified he had not attended the 2017 Meeting and as such was not recorded in the list passed from Captain to Captain elect. The Clerk explained that the website had not been updated for 2017 or with the 2018 Entry details. He hoped to resolve the issue for the 2019 Meeting.

The following matters were discussed:

• Her Majesty, The Queen had been sent the White Rose and Loyal Message and a telephone call has been received from Her Majesty’s Private Secretary
• The Clerk presented the accounts for The Society, pointing out that an error existed in the accounts as shown, and that they should show a balance of £4,645.94, not £4,615.94. the balance is slightly down on 2017, due mainly to the purchase during the year of additional Captain and Lieutenant Brooches.
• The Final Proposal with regard to Article 23 and the distribution of the “Swear Bag” proceeds had been issued with the Notice of this Meeting, after receiving approval “in principle” at the 2017 Meeting. There were no further comments regarding the Proposal, and upon a show of hands, the Proposal received unanimous support. The change will now be incorporated into the Articles.
• The Captain, David McLaren asked for approval to present the contents of the “Swear Bag” to the Royal British Legion. This was unanimously approved by the Gentlemen present.
• The Captain elect and Lieutenant elect, were then presented with their Captain and Lieutenant brooches, by the Captain.
• Mark Hayes stood to express his thanks to the Captain for the provision of an excellent venue and wonderful catering.

There being no further business the meeting was closed at 14.20.
