Be it further recorded that this number is the highest number in the records of the Society and that there were 42 Longbowmen at this meeting. The first item of note was the striking of the Red at the first end by several gentlemen but that of Mr Jim Melvin a longbowman was adjudged the best there by making Mr Melvin Lieutenant Elect for the ensuing year. The next item of note was an excellent shot by Mr Paul Scudamore in the inner gold causing him to be elected as Captain Elect for the following year. Shooting continued in fair conditions until luncheon, which was taken at the Village Hall. The luncheon was follwed by the Annual Meeting of the Society then a further two hours of shooting. The Arrow and other awards were presented by the Captain's Lady at the conclusion of the meeting. Collected for the Poor of the Parish £24.00 Judge - George F Thorley |

Matters arising:- Longbows - It was agreed that the Rules of the British Longbow Society be our guide to the use of the Longbow. It was also agreed that self nocks would be acceptable in addition to horn nocks. It was resolved that the letter 'L' be noted in the Results List to indicate a Longbowman, particularly now that the ranks of Longbowmen are increasing. The Clerk then dealt with apologies & correspondence commencing with Her Majesty's gracious reply to our Loyal Message. There
being no further business the meeting was closed and the Gentlemen withdrew
to continue shooting at 2.45pm. |
