Northallerton 31st August 1888


Pursuant to advertisement the Gentlemen Archers assembled at the Station Hotel in Northallerton to arrange the order of Shooting and afterwards proceeded to the Cricket Ground and there did shoot for the Scorton Arrow and other prizes.

The morning opened gloriously fine but a cross wind interfered with good shooting. Twelve dozen arrows were shot and two at each end as usual.

The shooting commenced at 11.15 and was continued till 1.15, when an adjournment was made for luncheon and resumed at 2.45 and concluded at 4.45.

Be it remembered that Doctor Edgar with his first Arrow made the best gold and thus won the Captaincy, the Subscription Cup and Challenge Cup. And be it remembered that the Captain paid for the customary bottle of wine.
